Begiradazu hitz egiten dizudanean

(Or look at me when I talk to you)
4 site-specific sound installations
Bertiz Manor Gardens – Navarra (Spain)
From July 20 to September 3, 2016

Begiradazu hitz egiten dizudanean” consists in four sound interventions in four specific spaces of the Historic Garden of the Señorío de Bértiz Natural Park. All of them have something in common: unveiling sounds that are neither heard nor heard. Each intervention is composed of sound recordings that reveal some hidden aspect of the place. The aim is to make possible to listen to the genius loci of the place through sounds that are difficult to be noticeable and/or hearable, such as ultrasounds (sounds that are above the human hearing range) and underwater sounds. In the end, the raw material from which the four interventions start is the unveiled sound. The locations for the four interventions are: the interior of the basilica of Modernist style, the viewpoint on the river that maintains a Chinese style and in two kiosks that are inside the Historical Garden, one, next to the pond and the other one, next to the access door and the information desk. The four locations make up a journey through the hidden history of the sounds of the place, allowing us to discover hidden aspects through sound. “Begiradazu hitz egiten dizudanean (Or look at me when I speak)” aims to change our view of the Historic Garden, discovering the veil of our own perceptions and enabling new dynamics of relationship with space.
